Mitch Young Mitch Young
Mitch Young, Vice President, IBM Software, ASEAN

Mitchell (Mitch) Young is the Vice President for IBM Software in the ASEAN growth market. He leads IBM's software solutions across the Region including operations in sales, marketing, business partners, technical support and services.

Mitch is committed to creating value for clients in ASEAN through the application of IBM’s Smarter Software capabilities and an extensive partner ecosystem in the areas of Cloud, Big Data & Analytics, Social, Security and Mobile solutions. His growth strategy focuses on enhancing skills across the industry, applying software in an industry perspective and extending IBM’s reach into new markets. Before his current ASEAN role, Mitch was Director, IBM Tivoli Software for Asia Pacific based in Shanghai, China. During his four years in that role he led the growth of IBM's Service Management business by helping clients manage the Complexity and Risk they face in delivering IT and Business services. In previous roles at IBM, Mitch has worked in various business units in Australia, ASEAN and the broader Asia Pacific.

He brings to this position over 22 years of experience in the software industry and joined IBM as a professional hire in Australia in 1996.

Mitch holds a Bachelor of Engineering, Mechanical & Manufacturing, from the University of Melbourne, Australia. He has recently returned to Singapore, where he previously lived from 2001 to 2003, and is accompanied by his wife and three children.

Mark Simpson Mark Simpson
Chief Technology Officer for Cloud & Smarter Infrastructure, IBM Asia Pacific

As Director of Development for Cloud & Smarter Infrastructure Netcool Solutions, Simpson is responsible for leading the develop-ment of IBM’s strategic Event, Fault, Performance and Network Management products. These products help large Service Providers and Enterprises manage their networks and ensure that events that are critical to business services are properly discovered, visualized, prioritized and acted upon.

Further, as IBM Cloud & Smarter Infrastructure's Asia Pacific CTO, Mark is focused on the success of our clients in Asia Pacific and ensuring that those clients interests and requirements are met by the Cloud & Smarter Infrastructure WW brand.

Simpson joined IBM in 1984 in Research and Development as a development programmer. Simpson has spent his whole career in Research and Development holding various leadership positions in development, engineering, architecture, industry standards and ser-vices.

Simpson holds a BS in Computer Science from Sam Houston State University.

Dr. Leong Mun Kew Dr. Leong Mun Kew
Deputy Director of NUS-ISS

Mun Kew is appointed as Deputy Director, ISS. Prior to joining ISS, Mun Kew held multiple positions with the National Library Board, Singapore, as CTO, Deputy CIO & Director CIO Office, and Director, Digital & Knowledge Infrastructure Division. As Deputy CIO, he was responsible for governance and architecture and started ongoing efforts in master data management, enterprise architecture and corporate governance of IT. In particular, he designed a federated approach to EA that allows a gradual easing of operations oriented organizations into a business driven architecture, and started the Government EA Forum to promote practitioner sharing of EA pains and successes.

Before NLB, Mun Kew was Principal Scientist and Programme Director for Services Research at the A*STAR Institute for Infocomm Research. In his 20-year research career, his personal research was in information retrieval, digital libraries, distributed multilingual search systems and media semantics, and he also looked after research groups in NLP, security, ontology, data mining and analytics. From 1999 to 2001, Mun Kew was VP and CTO of an IT startup delivering custom distributed deep search technologies and services. He has published and patented in these areas and is an invited speaker in many talks, most recently on cloud computing in government.

Mun Kew received his PhD from Stanford University. He has more than 25 years of R&D and commercial experience in IT. He was Chair and Editor of the ISO/JTC1/WG2/24800 JPSearch international standard, editor or past editor of the Journal of Information Retrieval, Information Processing and Management Journal, member of the advisory board for the School of IIT at Temasek Polytechnic, the IRAL and AIRS

Marko Milek Marko Milek
Analytics Solutions Lead Architect and Big Data & Analytics Technical Sales Leader, IBM ASEAN (Banking)

As the Analytics Solutions Lead Architect at IBM, Marko focuses on helping clients across the region develop and implement outcome driven Analytical Solutions and improving their Analytical Quotient. Before joining IBM Singapore, Marko held a number of leadership positions at IBM Software development labs. He managed the DB2 BLU development team at the Helsinki Lab, was responsible for worldwide development of the IBM solidDB product family, managed development integration of Solid Information Technology into IM portfolio, and worked at the IBM Toronto Lab as the DB2 Release Manager. Marko has 10+ years of experience in software development, acquisitions, and release, project, and product management. His areas of expertise include relational database technologies, analytics, performance optimization and benchmarking, and in-memory databases.

Marko holds a Bachelors degree in Physics from California Institute of Technology, a Masters degree in Computer Science and a Doctorate in Physics from McGill University.

Ser Yean currently leads the Business Analytics Technical Sales across the growth market. With more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry, he has been involved with an extensive range of solutions within the field of business analytics and information management.

In his current capacity, Ser Yean constantly interacts with companies across all industries and company sizes to develop business analytics solutions to help organizations better understand, anticipate and shape business outcomes. Ser Yean currently leads a team of around two hundred business analytics solution professionals across the Growth Market who actively engages with customers to help them achieve breakthrough results and outperform their competition.

Deb has more than 21 years of working experience in IT, Consulting and Functional (Finance & Accounts) areas. His extremely rich experience covers Delivery, Project and Program Management, Presales and Solution Architecting. In addition, he has deep experience in ERP implementation in areas of Finance, Supply Chain Management and Manufacturing.

Relevant Experience in Finance & Accounting:
  • Certified Cost and Management Accountant by academic qualification
  • Worked in Finance and Accounts in various industries like Manufacturing, Commercial and Services

    Sudesh started working as Technical Support Engineer at Rational APAC Support Center in Sydney Australia. He was responsible for supporting the APAC customers on Rational products like Rational Rose, RequisitePro, Rational Unified Process, Rational XDE etc. He later joined the IBM Rational field sales team doing pre-sales of IBM Rational ALM platform. He was instrumental in deploying the newly launched Rational products in 2004 like RSA, RAD, RAM etc to System Integrators like Cognizant , Accenture , Wipro & Infosys.

    Sudesh also worked at Microsoft as a technology specialist for Microsoft ALM platform and took Microsoft newer product in Architecture , Testing & Collaborative developments tools to the ASIAN market. He was instrumental in deploying Visual Studio ALM platform to large SI like TCS , L&T Infotech , Genpact , Patni , Syntel etc.

    Sudesh enjoys evangelizing ALM platform and have spoken at various conferences like Rational Software Development conference , IBM developerWorks events , Microsoft Visual Studio launch events etc.

    Sudesh holds a Masters degree in Computing from University of Western Sydney , Nepean & Bachelors degree in engineering and physics. Sudesh is currently based in the Singapore and helps ASEAN customers adopt IBM Rational Technologies .
